De MG B: een populaire Engelse sportauto zoals hij hoort te zijn: lichtgewicht, wendbaar en een genot om mee te rijden. Wat het door ons aangeboden exemplaar bijzonder maakt is dat het een origineel Nederlands geleverde auto is. De MG is daarnaast een vroeg geproduceerd exemplaar met volledig chromen bumpers en het geliefde klassieke dashboard. Op 15 oktober 1965 is hij aan de eerste eigenaar geleverd. De samenstelling van de auto is op en top Brits klassiek: British Racing Green met een zwart lederen interieur en wielen met chromen sierdoppen. Hij is verder voorzien van mooie extra's zoals een zwarte hardtop, bagagerekje, reservewiel, tonneau en trekhaak. Uitvoerige documentatie van oude foto's en onderhoudsfacturen zijn bij de auto aanwezig. Er zijn zelfs foto's uit 1980 aanwezig! De auto is toen gerestaureerd. De MG is vervolgens al die tijd goed onderhouden bij specialistische garagebedrijven. Zo zijn recent een nieuwe starterkrans en startmotor gemonteerd en is een grote onderhoudsbeurt uitgevoerd in 2021. In een taxatierapport uit 2024 wordt de auto aangemerkt als zijnde in zeer goede staat met een taxatiewaarde van € 20.500,-. Het interieur is nog netjes en ademt een Engelse sfeer met het klassieke dashboard, prachtige tellers, fraaie stuurwiel en authentieke radio. Ook de kofferruimte is netjes en biedt plaats aan het reservewiel. Kortom: een mooi, origineel Nederlands geleverd exemplaar van een iconische auto met veel historie en een eerlijk verhaal.
Algemene informatie over de MG B
De MG B volgde in 1963 de MG A op, een auto die voor MG - onderdeel van The British Motor Company (BMC) - al tamelijk populair was met ruim 100.000 exemplaren. De MG B zou tot 1980 geproduceerd worden en hiervan zijn uiteindelijk nog meer geproduceerd dan van de A: ruim een half miljoen exemplaren. Naast de roadster zijn ook andere varianten geproduceerd zoals de MG B GT driedeurs 2+2 coupé (1965-1980), de zescilinder MG C (1967-1969), en de achtcilinder MG B GT V8. De MG B was met zijn 1.8-liter motor en 95 pk een stuk krachtiger dan de 1.6-liter MG A. Naast prestaties en rijeigenschappen moest de MG B hoog scoren op het gebied van veiligheid en betaalbaarheid. Door deze combinatie werd de auto een groot succes. De carrosserie is zelfdragend en het lage zwaartepunt en gebruik van aluminium carrosseriedelen zorgt voor een laag gewicht van 970 KG en een hoge mate van wendbaarheid. Het onafhankelijke veersysteem komt het comfort dan weer ten goede. Kortom: een groot succes in het hoogtepunt van de Britse auto-industrie. Een ideale klassieker voor tourritten, vakantieritten of gewoon om te koesteren.

The MG B: a popular English sports car as it should be: lightweight, agile and a pleasure to drive. What makes the example we offer special is that it is an original Dutch-built car. In addition, the MG is an early produced example with full chrome bumpers and the beloved classic dashboard. It was delivered to its first owner on 15 October 1965. The composition of the car is thoroughly British classic: British Racing Green with a black leather interior and wheels with chrome decorative caps. It is further equipped with nice extras such as a black hardtop, luggage rack, spare wheel, tonneau and tow bar. Extensive documentation of old photos and maintenance bills are present with the car. There are even photos from 1980 present! The car was restored then. The MG has subsequently been well maintained at specialist garages all this time. For example, a new starter ring and starter motor were recently fitted and a major service was carried out in 2021. A 2024 valuation report identified the car as being in very good condition with an assessed value of €20,500. The interior is still neat and breathes an English atmosphere with the classic dashboard, beautiful counters, nice steering wheel and authentic radio. The boot is also neat and offers space for the spare wheel. In short: a beautiful, original Dutch-delivered example of an iconic car with a lot of history and an honest story.
General information about the MG B
The MG B succeeded the MG A in 1963, a car that was already quite popular for MG - part of The British Motor Company (BMC) - with over 100,000 units. The MG B would be produced until 1980, and even more of these were eventually produced than of the A: over half a million units. Besides the roadster, other variants were also produced such as the MG B GT three-door 2+2 coupe (1965-1980), the six-cylinder MG C (1967-1969), and the eight-cylinder MG B GT V8. With its 1.8-litre engine and 95 hp, the MG B was a lot more powerful than the 1.6-litre MG A. In addition to performance and handling, the MG B had to score highly in terms of safety and affordability. This combination made the car a great success. The bodywork is self-supporting and the low centre of gravity and use of aluminium body parts ensures a low weight of 970 KG and a high degree of agility. The independent suspension system then adds to comfort. In short: a great success in the height of the British car industry. An ideal classic for touring, holiday driving or just to cherish.
