The early Series 1 roadsters (1961-64) are the most iconic and sought after of the E’Types and particularly the RHD cars which were produced in much smaller numbers than LHD (935 RH vs 1865 LH). This original manual shift car built in March 1962 was sold to an Austrailian owner and stayed in Perth for the early part of its life until brought back to the UK. Now DVLA registered as 959 UYT it has just completed a total bare metal, full nut and bolt expert restoration with many upgrades added to make the car a joy to drive while maintianing it‘s originality.

Finished to Jaguars factory specification Opalescent Silver Grey with Dark blue leather trim and blue mohair soft top. Perfection are the only words able to describe it.

The Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirms the Chassis Number of 850423 with body number R3329.

SPECIFICATION

The E’Type designed by Jaguars Sir William Lyons was launched to worldwide acclaim at the May 1961 Geneva Motor Show. The car is rated at 265HP with a 0-60mph of 6.9seconds

This is an original factory manual transmission car, where the Moss box has been superceded with the 5 speed Tremec upgrade giving the car precise gear shifting and comfortable speed cruising. Upgraded “Green stuff” braking gives the original bellows power braking system extra road safety. Direct engine driven power assisted steering adds to driving comfort. The triple 2inch SU’s controlled by the Mangoletsi throttle linkage upgrade allows for extra smooth power delivery of the 3.8 litre HP straight six XK engine.

Early cars are distinguished by covered headlamps (as in Aston DB5), horseshoe seats, aluminium dashboard and gearshift tunnel, bellows servo braking system and instrument panel toggle switches.

The car has been fully restored with over 2500 hours spent and finished with no effort spared to the recognised highest Jaguar quality restoration standards – effectively now being a car much superior to the initial factory standard. Now completed with full leather trim, floor and bulkhead heat and sound deadening materials, modern quality rust inhibition and paint standards as well as LED instrument back lighting and highest quality Bluetooth hands free phone and sound system (driven via smart phone App). A full list of upgrades is provided separately but especially worth mentioning is the latest electronic 123 ignition, power steering, 5 speed Tremec, Mahle race pistons, upgraded heater cabin heater system and lightweight power starter motor, stainless steel exhaust, and numerous suspension enhancements for greater ride comfort and race safety. Chrome wire wheels, 15inch wooden steering wheel, Aluminium radiator with upgraded electric fan and cowl assembly, green tint windscreen, power Alternator, braided oil pipes, rear crankshaft oil seal conversion and adjustable suspension now give the car maximum reliability and driving safety and comfort. Test driven with over 200 shakedown miles this car is ready for performance or comfort cruising use. A rare RHD roadster and stunning example of one of the most iconic and beautiful cars ever to be designed.
