2002 Aston Martin DB7 Vanquish
When Aston Martin debuted the DB7 in 1994, it marked a major turning point for the storied British marque. After years of financial uncertainty and limited production, the company found renewed focus and stability under the umbrella of Ford’s Premier Automotive Group. For the first time in decades, Aston Martin had the resources to develop a truly modern GT car—one that blended the marque’s traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, engineering, and drivability. Designed by Ian Callum, the DB7 featured a sleek and timeless silhouette, and while it shared some underlying architecture with Jaguar’s XJS, it was very much its own car—sporting the elegance, proportion, and road presence expected of an Aston Martin.
The DB7 quickly became a bestseller, effectively tripling Aston Martin’s production volume and introducing a new generation of drivers to the brand. In 1999, the launch of the DB7 Vantage elevated the model even further. The standard supercharged inline-six gave way to a purpose-built 5.9-liter all-alloy V12—developed in collaboration with Cosworth—which delivered smooth, effortless power with a suitably exotic soundtrack. For those who craved a more visceral grand touring experience, the rare six-speed manual transmission made the most of the 420-horsepower output, offering a connected and rewarding drive. Available in coupe or Volante (convertible) form, the V12 Vantage struck a sweet spot between tradition and innovation, thus ushering Aston Martin confidently into the 21st century.
This 2002 DB7 Vantage Volante is a beautifully presented example, finished in elegant navy blue with a matching navy convertible top. The inviting cockpit features tan leather upholstery with blue piping, paired with a rich walnut veneer dash—creating a warm, luxurious atmosphere that still reflects the car’s performance pedigree. The combination is quintessentially Aston Martin: understated yet distinctive, with just the right touch of sporting flair. A Parrot hands-free telephone system was added under previous ownership.
This example is one of fewer than 400 DB7 Vantage Volantes built with the optional six-speed manual gearbox, making it a rare and appealing choice for drivers who prefer a more involved experience. Complementing the gearbox is a Cosworth-engineered 5.9-liter V12, which delivers 420 horsepower and a rich, muscular soundtrack, this drivetrain combination transforms the car into a truly involving grand tourer. Four-wheel independent suspension, ventilated disc brakes, and Aston Martin’s signature chassis tuning ensure this convertible is as rewarding on a twisty backroad as it is refined on long-distance motorway journeys.
The car benefits from recent servicing totaling over $5,000 in early 2025. Highlights include a new radiator, fresh clutch and clutch assembly, new battery, and recent transmission service—ensuring the car performs with confidence and reliability. It also rides on a brand-new set of Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires, offering exceptional grip and ride quality while complementing the DB7’s well-balanced road manners.
Thoughtfully cared for and finished in a timeless specification, this DB7 Vantage Volante presents an opportunity to enjoy one of the last truly analog Aston Martins—a twelve-cylinder grand tourer with pedigree, presence, and a proper gearbox to match.
